Management Information System Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Management Information System - Research Paper Example Organizations are so involved in reaping the benefits afforded by this highly globalized society, that they are now compelled to bear the repercussions of the same. The internal as well as external organizational environment has changed significantly due to the presence and use of Information technology. It has not only made access of firms to international markets easier and faster, but also offered immense support to such firms with regard to managing and learning to manoeuvre the anxieties and proliferation of data in the most effective manner possible (Oz, 2008). Increased investment in multinational ventures, by local and private businesses back home, including airlines, financial institutions and even grocery stores, have made it all the more crucial to rely on these global networks for information. This is imperative for local businesses operating beyond their local and national geographical boundaries, as international dimensions begin to permeate the local corporate structures, gradually compelling such firms to adopt a more globally viable approach to business and make respective changes in their advertising and marketing policies in a way that is more acceptable to its growing multicultural customer base (Dlabay & Scott, 2005). Referring to various challenges faced by companies, as they prepare to venture into international markets, Flynn (1994: 142) remarked, that when a company moves into international markets, "the management now faces multilingual and multicultural climates, many different governments with different regulations and political systems. It also finds different currencies, multiple time zones, and many different approaches to IT and IS education". International markets differ from the domestic ones in a broad range of aspects including drastic differences in culture, social expectations, and political and economic laws, on a

Types of business Essay Example for Free

Types of business Essay A sole trader is one who is wholly responsible for his business and hence has complete control over it. He keeps all the profit generated from the business and runs the business according to his own will. He does not have access to substantial capital for expansion; he does not have anyone to manage his business affairs and therefore has to do all the work by his own. Sole proprietorship has unlimited limited which means he will have to sell his own assets apart from business in order to pay back the debts. Partnership: the Business is run by partners who share the profit and loss according to the share of capital put into the business. It is run by mutual ideas of the partners. They can overcome each other weakness which can be helpful in making the business more profitable. They loss form the business is shared among the partners. One of the disadvantages is that the profit generated from the business has to be shared among the partners . The partners may get into conflict when making any decision. Corporation: There are two types of corporations. Private limited and Public limited. Private Limited corporations are those where the shareholders have limited liability and the shares of the corporate may not be offered to the general public. One of the major advantages of private limited company is that the corporation is separated from management and its members (the shareholders). Another advantage is that all the shareholders have limited liability that means only there share in the business is at stake and they are not liable to pay back the debt from their own property. Disadvantages may be that all the decisions have to be consulted with every shareholder that takes time and effort. The other form of corporation is the public limited corporation where the ownership is held by the public . The company has limited liability; a public limited corporation has a greater access to financial institutions for loans which is not the case with sole traders or partnership. With so many shareholders, they can all contribute their ideas for the benefit of the company. The disadvantages of a public limited company is the double taxation , at first the company has to pay the corporation tax on the profit earned and then the shareholders pay the tax on the dividends they get . Second advantage of a public limited company is that there are many legal formalities involved in setting up. The third disadvantage may be that the public limited corporation is bound to disclose all the financial information to its shareholders that takes a lot of time, effort and money. (Cinnamon and Larsen, 2006) Franchising: It is a method by which a person uses a business name that already exists. The person who takes the name is know has franchisee and the person who owns that business is know as franchisors. The franchisee in order to get authorize to use the name of the business has to pay a fees and a percentage of gross monthly sales. Sherman , 2004) Advantage to the franchisor may be that it can come near to the market by giving out the name to a franchisee. For a franchisee the advantage may be that he can earn from a business that already exists and is well renowned. Disadvantage for the franchisor is that the franchisor has to keep in eye on the quality of the products available in the franchise and also on the customer service given by the franchisee. For a franchisee the disadvantages may be that he has to give some profit to the franchisor. (Sherman , 2004)

Grading Scale: A Persisting Problem Among Students Essay -- Education,

Entering the classroom, sheets of white typing paper printed out sitting on the desks; starting the day off with the notification of the classroom grade can be a frightening thought. The eighteen year old, tall, and slender girl slides into her desk and prepares herself for what the paper holds for her future report card. Verbally, the teacher signals to flip over the piece of paper and look at semester grades. As the papers are being flipped, all at once negative cries shout out. This can not be right! There is something wrong! Why are there grades missing? Why is this not an A? As Aquilino states, â€Å"It’s not like they should get something they didn’t earn† (Roth 1). The teacher telling the students to settle down and sit in their seats quietly soars across the room. Worried faces, teary eyes, and trembling hands are seen in every student of the class. As the teacher thinks, who can really be blamed for a lower letter grade than wanted? There is on ly one answer, the student themselves. It is natural to slip once in a while in the classroom, but the grades permanently recorded on a grade point average never change. Since getting a bad grade can disappoint anyone, there are ways to solve this problem. As a senior these grades may have an affect on college, but in all ages the grading scale can be a problem. Whether it be the parent of a student, or the student themselves worrying about a grade in a class, there is a fix. Since more often than not, a student or parent has a problem with a student grade, however there is more than one solution for solving this grade dilemma. Nevertheless when dealing with dissatisfied grades, parents get involved. When it comes down to dealing with a final grade, the decision is betw... ... expected where students are carefree at times during school hours, but when it comes down to knowing the grading scales one must focus. There are solutions to solving problems that are sometimes fought between a teacher and a student and even between a teacher and parent. Extra credit, grading on a curve, college credits, and changing all scales to be equal are a few possible solutions to these problems. All problems in life have solutions, sometimes more than one. As shown through this paper, problems should not be stressed about, rather looked at by ways it can be improved upon. Grading scales can vary from class to class, but why worry when there are solutions to making students more educated rather than worrisome. Since more often than not a student or parent has a problem with a student grade; there is possible solutions for solving this grade dilemma.

Aging and Cognitive Status

The following paragraph will identify the physical manifestations of aging, thus illustrating the most commonly viewed perception about elderly – forgetfulness. What is it all about and why and how does it affect human lives. This essay will answer the question as to whether forgetfulness is a pathologic or biologic characteristic of aging. The premise on which this paper operates on is the inference and personal opinion of the author relative to the effects and conditions of forgetfulness, its impact to both young and old alike.Aging is tantamount to the degeneration of all bodily functions, until such time when the function exhausts itself and degenerate. This is because the life span of the human cell only extends up to such time until it no longer regenerates. As we age, the usual optimal level of bodily functions that we have gotten used to begins to slow down. This also holds true with the cognitive and motor functions. In the cognitive aspect, aging brings along the tende ncy of memory loss and focus. Older people sometimes finds it hard to remember events that took place in the past, even more so with events which took place just recently.Cognition won’t be as efficient and sharp as it used to be. There is the deterioration of vision and eyesight that sometimes causes a great deal of confusion among elderly and sometime the same culprit as that of accidents and fall.As for motor functioning, there is the slowing down of bodily movements, as in the case of slow movement. One of the possible reasons can be attributed to the poor vision, where in they move slowly because they can not see very clearly therefore requiring them to make sure every step they make.Certain cells in the brain die causing it to alter cognition in a way also affecting other functions like the satiety, taste buds memory and etc. This is true to almost every human being, although the rate of deterioration may differ on a case to case basis, depending on how the body has been taken cared for while in their youth (AAGP. 2004). Almost every elderly, experiences a certain percentage of memory loss, deterioration of vision and taste buds, as well as that of motor functions at certain point in time.Although, the hearing, memory, taste and vision loss is common among elderly, this can also happen in earlier stages of life, especially so with accidents causing injury or trauma to the central nervous system. Forgetfulness also happens to young people, which is especially true when there are a lot of things going on in a person’s life.Sometimes, there are just too many things to take care of, responsibilities at home, in school, the family and even to self. Sometimes it is the kind of lifestyle that causes this.Memory lapse can be a bothersome thing, however temporary they may be; the idea of forgetting things can be so irritating especially if you lost it at the time it is most needed. The best thing to do if this happens to younger people like me is to s top whatever it is that I am doing and concentrate, de-stress and relax, so that the thought comes back when the body is at the state of ease and comfort (Rauch. 2005).Reference PageAAGP [American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry]. Causes & Effects of Academic Cheating

Dusan Micovic EN105 Prof. Rutt 13/10/2012 The Causes and Effects of Academic Cheating Cheating has been an issue for years in academic settings, whether in the primary grades, high school or college. However, definition of cheating remains unclear. It is so widespread and it overlaps with so many academic activities that it does not have a specific, clear, uniform policy on what constitutes academic dishonesty. Parental pressure can also lead to cheating.According to Professor Daniel J. Bauer, parents sometimes coerce their children into attending college by relating horror stories to them about people who never attended college. Parents will tell their teenagers that they will never succeed in life without a college education. These well-meaning parents may even expect nothing but A's on their child's transcript. This parental notion overlooks the possibility that a vocational program may indeed be a better fit for a student. It also increases the pressure these individuals feel to s ucceed, whether in high school or college, or risk losing the love of their parents. Failing a test, for example, is not an option, so they feel they must pass at any cost, even if it means cheating. In a survey by Rutgers University, students felt that cheating is a necessary method to ensure success through high school, college and later in life. Education News has conducted a survey and found that students who are poorly prepared are more likely to cheat than those who studied or completed assignments.Poor preparation is usually a result of laziness, which is indeed one of the biggest obstacles towards academic success. Seeing as overcoming laziness and developing effective study habits might be long and tough road, students prefer taking a shortcut. According to Orment, attitude of the teacher or professor is another possible factor that could drive students to cheating. If the mentor is not prone to offering help outside of class, or is too harsh on grading, this could lead stu dents to cheat.Another practice that can lead to cheating, that researchers mentioned, was weighting a final examination so heavily that failing the test automatically fails a student. The ultimate goal of education is to teach students some crucial concepts and techniques. However, many students don’t have those academic foundations because of the excessive cheating. When cheating is successfully repeated, it easily becomes a habit. Their creativity and sense of responsibility will drop over time, and dependency of cheating will grow. They will leave the education system, with a belief that things in life will always come easy, handed to them on a silver platter. Soon after they step into the work environment they will notice that they were wrong. Accumulated lack of knowledge and skill will make them realize that they are simply not ready. Although cheating can be just a harmless tool of support for years in school and college, it could also produce some serious consequences in the long run, due to its overuse and abuse.

Greek Mythological Heroes essays

Greek Mythological Heroes essays The stories of ancient heroes have captured the imagination of audiences #for centuries. It is these stories that closely resemble fairy tales that intrigue people. They were used to entertain, to excite and to explain the unexplainable. They gave encouragement, and they gave the Ancient Greeks some thing to believe in. These stories were myths, which were the stories of ancient heroes who did miraculous things, all with the help of the gods and goddesses. The most famous myths were recorded by poets and scholars like Plato, Aristotle, and Homer. These myths are the ones that almost everyone knows now, even though most dont use them to explain things. Although myths are no longer needed to explain the unexplainable, the heroes from these myths live on to keep the world of the Ancient Greeks alive today. One of these famous heroes was Jason and his crew, The Argonauts. For Example, the story of Jason and the Argonauts was used by many poets to explain how one person, who was favored by the gods, could make all the difference, (Hellenism). Jasons story showed that one person could change the course of history. It also showed why so many tried to please the Gods. Furthermore, Jasons Story was long and complicated, the gist of it is that his uncle, the reigning king sent him on a mission to recover the Golden Fleece, a mythological thing that brought peace and healing to what ever possessed it (Hellenism). The Story of Jason was long and complicated, but it also brought the hope of doing something grand like that to all who read it. The people of Greece never forgot Jason and they dedicated many temples to him and his crew. In Addition, the story of Jason lives on through movies and novels, (Skidmore). The mass production of novels gave various retellings of the story, but they are ba sically the same at heart. Then, movies, like the famous epic, Jason and the Argonauts, appeal to ev ...

Child Labor in China Essay Example

Child Labor in China Essay Example Child Labor in China Essay Child Labor in China Essay Child Labor in ChinaChild labour is a subject that represents an apparent societal unfairness. In China, child labour may non be every bit serious as in some states, such as Indonesia, Sri Lanka or Nepal. However, there is no uncertainty that the kid labour issue has non been overlooked. Although the official statistics on the extent of Chinese kid labour are non available due to its political system, intelligence articles, studies and research of the past kid labourers attest to the acerbity of the state of affairs. It is apparent that the figure of child labourers in China is increasing instead than diminishing. Child labour is inhumane immoral, and unjust. It is full-time work forced on kids that prevents them from go toing school, and it is unsafe for their physical and mental wellness.Children should hold freedom to develop in a supportive environment, and bask the right to have the proper instruction. It has been a large trade in China, but people have abolished it. Therefore, we should take this issue earnestly and happen an effectual manner to protect kids from the harmful state of affairs they presently face. One of the chief grounds for the increasing Numberss of kids working illicitly alternatively of go toing school is the neglecting classs. Many kids who work illicitly are those who are considered as academically hopeless, and they believe that it is impossible for them to travel on to high schools. Harmonizing to the official authorities statistics, the rate of secondary school drop- out is merely 2.49 % merely. However, the existent figure is above 40 % in rural countries based on the research done by the Northeast Normal University ( Li Jingrong n.pag. ) These pupils are normally between 13 to 15 and employment is their lone option. Furthermore, poorness in China is the key to driving a figure of rural kids off from having instruction and forcing them into work as child labourers. Because of lifting costs and the deficiency of support from the cardinal authorities, many schools force kids to work in order to do up school budgets. Although the instruction is mandatory in China, the authorities merely covers the tuition fees, but non all the extra-curricular activities and other disbursals of schools. Otherwise, those schools would be forced to shut. As a consequence, schools have been forced to gain money, normally by their students’ work, in order to pay for basic equipment and instructions. The on the job conditions of kid labour are really hapless. Chi lds have to work in utmost conditions for long hours, even under hazardous fortunes. However, they can merely have low compensation, which is even under the minimal pay in China. Exhaustion, heat shot and malnutrition are common amongst child labourers. Children are forced to work in intolerable conditions and in some instances stay in filthy, unwarmed, uninsulated field barracks, usually used to hive away harvests or farm machinery. ( Forced and child labour in the cotton industry. N. pag. ) Sometimes, they even endures physical and mental maltreatment by their employers. Therefore, kids are forced to work and they can non bask the basic human right by which everyone in the society should be respected.Catholic Church has placed a strong accent of opposing child labour and it takes this issue earnestly. First of wholly, the Catholic Church states that kids should be well-protected and child labour is a signifier of force against kids. Pope Leo XIII one time issued the warning, In respect to kids, great attention should be taken non to put them in workshops and mills until their organic structures and heads are sufficiently developed. ( Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church 296 ) . Child labour can non be tolerated in church’s position because kids are of import in the society. Furthermore, people should non make anything to harm them every bit good. This comes from Matthew’s Gospel: Jesus said, Let the small kids come to me, and do non impede them, for the land of heaven belongs to such as these. ( Matthew 19:14 ) Jesus said that the love of kids was non weaker, but it is much stronger. Besides, kids deserve to be protected and blessed in the land of Eden, which is God’s love.Second, kids have the alone grace that is given by God. A kid is non something owed to one, but is a gift. ( CCC 2378 ) Catholics believe that kids should non be considered as a piece of belongings because they are the supreme gift in a matrimony. Children should be treated with regard because the true self-respect of our lives as worlds is to larn to esteem everyone’s life, and to truly attention for one another every bit good. Furthermore, the categorical jussive mood of Kant’s theory suggests that we should non merely treat kids as a agency to work for us, and we still have to handle them as a individual.Furthermore, Catholics believe that kids have the basic human rights. Harmonizing to Catechism of Catholic Church, An thought to which an alleged right to a kid would take. In this country, merely the kid possesses echt rights: the right to be the fruit of the specific act of the connubial love of his parents, and the right to be respected as a individual from the minute of his conception. ( CCC 2378 ) . It suggests that kids should hold right to populate the manner they want. Pope Francis has launched an entreaty against child labour. He affirmed, All kids must be able to play, survey, pray and grow, in their h ouseholds, this in a harmonic context, in love and repose, but these people alternatively of playing are slaves, and this is a plague. ( Catholic News Agency N. pag. ) Therefore, kids should be able to bask the right to portion, learn, and express themselves in any manner they choose, with regard for their freedom and rights.Child labour is a powerful issue in China and possible steps should be put in topographic point to alleviate the state of affairs. Everyone in the society has the duty to take action to stop this issue. Government has an of import function in covering with it. The Chinese authorities chiefly relies on coercive law-enforcement steps to undertake the job of kid labour. It has besides promulgatedRegulations Forbiding the Use of Child Labor. ( CLB 8 ) However, the cogency of it is lower than expected due to its deficiency of transparence. It is suggested that the Chinese authorities should seek its best attempt to supervise all the industries and strongly follow up on all the work.Second, more organisations should be created in order to protect and forestall child labour. With more organisations, more people will be encouraged in the voluntary work and they will be cognizant of what is truly go oning inside the work force. They can put up some fundraising chances to assist the hapless kids to have instruction. In the words of Bill Gates, Until we’re educating every child in a antic manner, until every interior metropolis is cleaned up, there is no deficit of things to do. Education is the lone method for them to get away from the poorness and better their life conditions. Besides, workshops and competitions can be held in the schools so as to educate the younger coevals about the world of child labour. Furthermore, the consciousness of the populace on this issue can be raised through advertizement and educational plans.Besides, the Catholic Church believes that every individual is ever called to continue the human self-respect of the ki d victims of child labour and assist the hapless. Therefore, Catholics can discourse this issue and cooperate with other organisations in order to come up with some possible solutions. Last but non least, we should ever pray for those unfortunate kids in China and have faith in God that he will take them the right manner one twenty-four hours.Childs are the cherished gifts presented by God to human life to make full the universe with love, felicity, and hope ; Children are the hereafter of the society. Their childhood find their hereafter, their ain life and their worthy parts to the universe. Therefore, it becomes an of import facet for everyone in the society, and it is our duty to protect them. The equal self-respect of human individuals requires the attempt to cut down inordinate societal and economic inequalities. It gives urgency to the riddance of iniquitous inequalities. ( CCC 1947 ) Although it is hard for this issue to be resolved in a short period of clip, everyone should take one measure back to command the state of affairs in order to make a better society for kids – our hope for the hereafter.Work Cited A Survey Report on Child Labour in China.
